Estefani Perez (AA ’24)
My name is Estefani Perez (AA ’24). I'm here to tell you about my Arrupe College experience.
Major: AA in Liberal Arts, English
High School: Carl Schurz High School
Involvements: Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society
How I chose my degree:
When I first started Arrupe, I was enrolled in the Pre-Education program where I learned about growth and development within children and teacher skills such a management, communication, leadership, etc. Although I enjoyed taking education classes as I learned many skills, I realize that I wanted to go into business as it connected more with my aspirations. I will be majoring in Human Resources Management where I can still help people grow.
My plans after graduation:
I will be enrolled at Loyola's Quinlan School of Business.
Professor a new student should absolutely take a class with:
All the classes I’ve taken at Arrupe are taught by amazing professors. I enjoyed having Mr. Flahive, Dr. Tarantino, Dr. Nguyen, and Dr. Cochran as my professors. I truly appreciate the amount of time they spent in setting up different learning methods to help me and others understand the material better and the amount of support that was given to me through the semesters. They are very helpful and understanding and help me shape who I am today.
Class I never expected to love:
I never expected to love Environmental Process & Methods, however, it was a class that I always look forward going to. Dr. Nguyen's form of teaching is incredible because even though science topics can be hard to understand, he breaks it down for it to be more understanding and overall is very interesting.
Favorite spot on campus:
My favorite place on campus is the second floor where the professors' offices are. I like to seat on a specific table because I have spent some of my favorite moments with my friends there since our freshman year at Arrupe.
Some surprisingly cool things about Arrupe:
All the free things there is meals, groceries, books, computer! supplies, etc. I will always love how affordable Arrupe is and all the support that is given to the students.
What advice do you have for the incoming class?
Work hard, but do not sacrifice your mental and physical health!
